Ruptured Ear Drum...WHAT!?!?

In the past when Madison is experiencing ear pain we rush her in for fear it may be an ear infection. After scraping inside the ear, flushing with water, and more scraping, followed by screams and tears from Madison they say, "There's nothing wrong, she's fine." This has happened twice. So when she came to me on Sunday with ear pain I said, "lets wait it out." Sunday night was a bear. She slept with me and was in so much pain we both only got a few hours of sleep. Monday morning she was exhausted so I kept her home from school. The pain wasn't as bad and by noon she was bouncing around the house. I thought to myself, "I'm so glad we didn't make a Sunday doctors appointment!" By 4:30 she crashed, hard, and I rushed to make an appointment for 6:40. By the time we had gotten her there she had taken two "naps" and hardly moved. It was freaking me out. Garrett stayed home with us and helped calm her down when she got upset. The doctor took one look and said, "I think she ruptured her ear drum." My heart sank and I immediately felt the guilt overwhelm me! My baby girl....how could I let this happen. Our girl is such a trooper though and was happy to have some medicine to help her ear. She stayed home again yesterday and when Austin went to school we were able to have a couple of hours to play together. She's off to school today, in a little pain, but with a smile on her face. She missed school so much. Momma learned a good lesson in what NOT to do and Austin learned, well is still learning, how to be soft and quiet when someone is sick. And we all experienced the amazing powers of Daddy. He is amazing at getting us to calm down when we are freaking out and at reassuring us that it will be ok! So that's what has been happening here. I am two days behind on the grocery shopping and party planning for Austin's 4th birthday party on Friday, but we survived and I am determined to make Friday a blast for our lil' man!

WOW! that sounds pretty traumatizing!
I didn't realize when I skyped with her that she had a ruptured ear drum,
she looked pretty puny! Poor girl,
proud of you Garrett!
